Sandy Lane, Happy Trees

Happy Trees is a four-bedroom villa on the Sandy Lane Estate in St James, Barbados, set in over an acre of landscaped gardens with mature trees and tropical planting. It combines modern design with comfort and a strong environmental focus.

The open-plan living and dining space extends to a large covered patio with a lounge and dining area, under a slatted roof that can be adjusted for sun or shade. The villa uses recycled roofing materials, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting and solar water heating, and indoor and outdoor lighting and music can be set for each part of the house.

The four air-conditioned bedrooms are in the southern wing, each with an en-suite bathroom, good mattresses and linens, flat-screen TV, Apple TV, Wi-Fi and hair dryer. Large glass doors open each room to the gardens. There is also a study next to the master suite, a central TV room and a fully equipped kitchen.

Outside, an infinity saltwater pool sits within the garden, with a poolside gazebo that has an ice-maker and seating.

Guests have use of the Sandy Lane Estate Beach Facility, with a private cabana, loungers, umbrellas and a sheltered bar. The villa's staff include a cook and a housekeeper.
