About Little Hill
Little Hill is a four-bedroom villa at The Tryall Club in Hanover, Jamaica, and was the first home built at Tryall. Completed in 1959 by the architect Robert Hartley in the classic West Indian style, it sits atop a 200-foot hill with 360-degree views of the Caribbean Sea, the surrounding hills and the club's championship golf course. It is a house of understated elegance, with the relaxed and welcoming feel of Jamaican island life.
The villa was completely renovated in 2012 and is built around a circular swimming pool 30 feet in diameter, with extensive covered terraces throughout. It has four bedrooms and four bathrooms and is handsomely furnished, with a particularly fine collection of Jamaican paintings alongside linen, china and objets d'art. The house lends itself to entertaining, and over the years it has welcomed international celebrities, including the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who stayed here.
On the west side of the villa, a covered terrace 100 feet long overlooks the sea and holds a dining area that easily seats 24 people. Because of its elevated position, it enjoys gentle breezes throughout the year. The gardens are full of bougainvillaea and anchored by mature trees, and a tennis court with a covered spectator area completes the outdoor spaces.
The Tryall Club is a 2,200-acre community with 1.5 miles of coastline and beaches, a challenging 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, a fitness centre and spa, a massage centre, a kids club, a beauty salon and water sports facilities, among other amenities. It suits family holidays, and a home here also offers the potential to generate rental income.
